The Fukushima Prefectural Museum of Art is located in Fukushima City, just below the edge of Mount Shinobu-yama, a symbol to the city. It opened its door in 1984 along with Fukushima Prefecture Library on a wide site of over sixty thousands square meters. The Museum building is independent from the Library with its own grounds and gardens. Many people claim its beauty.
The Museum was built in order to acquire and exhibit fine works of modern and contemporary arts for the purpose of informing the public.
